Kushta roga, of which dadru is a kind, is typified by lesions that resemble tortoise skin and cardinal symptoms such as Kandu, Utsannamandala, Raaga, and Pidaka. Acharya Sushruta describes Dadru Kushtha as a skin ailment that causes papules that have a copper or bluish tinge and are known to spread. Acharya Kashyapa has clearly denned Dadru as a skin disease having "Vriddhimant Mandals" i.e. widespread discoid lesions that are secretory and have severe burning and itching. One very significant detail in the practical aspect is that the lesions might occasionally be dry in nature. This article gives focus on the aspect of nidanatmakadhayana of dadrukustha.
