Abstract

The red cotton bug, Dysdercus koenigii (Fabricius), is a serious pest of cotton that feeds on developing seeds and bolls, causing staining and yield loss. Zingerone (4-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-2-butanone), a natural compound derived from ginger (Zingiber officinale), exhibits insecticidal and growth-regulating properties.
