Abstract

Modernism, also known as "high" modernism, was a western movement in the first part of the 20th century that
questioned many traditional aesthetic precepts. It impacted philosophy, music, architecture, literature, and the arts.
With the motto of the avant-garde, it was characterised by non-traditional aesthetic innovations. The
experimentation leads to different movements in disciplines like Futurism, Dadaism, Surrealism, Cubism,
Constructivism, Imagism and many others.
